6 Different Technics to play a Rock Guitar Solo

6 Different Technics to play a Rock Guitar Solo:

The playing in this video is a bit advanced due to the speed and techniques that I used. Musically it's intermediate level due to the notes played A.B,C,D,E,F,G,A. A aeolian minor (A natural minor) It' s not a video tutorial, but a demonstration of commonly used rock guitar soloing Technics. It will give you an visible example of how these shred rock solos are played, and which Technics are applied

Musically it's mainly notes from the A natural minor scale: A,B,C,D,E,F,G,(A) over a chord progression in A minor

The video shows you  the following common rock guitar soloing techniques:

  • Alternate picking (Picking down, up , down, up, i.a.
  • Sweep- picking (Sweeping with the pick over more than one string with a ' one strike motion'
  • String bends. Bending up to a a note ( a semitone or a whole tone)
  • Vibrato
  • tapping
  • Whammy bar bends ( Bending to notes with the whammy bar)

PS. Did you see my way of holding the pick and anchoring my picking hand to the guitar's body?  What is your approach to picking? Remember when picking fast, very small movements with both hand and pick are most efficient! Don't hesitate to ask if you have questions:-)
